Katie Lindl discovered her love of Pilates when she began training to restore muscular balance and build core strength following rehabilitation of a repetitive-use back injury. The benefits she found in her own body, above and beyond recovering full health, inspired her to train as a Stott Pilates® instructor in order to help others find balanced strength through the practice of Pilates.

Katie earned her PhD in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, and comes from a background of 10 years of competitive rowing, for which she holds a Level 1 coaching certificate. Along with her intensive training in Stott Pilates®, which follows a contemporary biomechanically-oriented approach, Katie’s extensive background in rowing gives her a keen eye for the critical details of appropriate muscle usage and overall body movements. She is also trained as an instructor for the Stott Pilates® CORE Athletic Conditioning and Performance Training program and the Total Barre program.

Katie is a Livermore native and a graduate of Livermore High School and Princeton University, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology with a certificate in Neuroscience. Raised and currently residing in the Livermore hills, she is an avid hiker, backpacker, and Del Valle Lake swimmer, accompanied on many of these adventures by her trusty camera and her faithful dog, Lewis. Katie still rows competitively with the Women’s Team at the Lake Merritt Rowing Club in Oakland, CA. While indoors, Katie reads constantly, works as a freelance scientific editor, and aspires to someday also work as a creative writer.
